A new dedicated science space has been unveiled at a Lowestoft-area primary school.

It comes as the South Lowestoft Partnership - which includes seven Active Learning Trust primary schools across Suffolk - joined the Phiz Lab family with the official opening of a dedicated science space at Red Oak Primary School.

The new science hub was unveiled at the primary school on Southwell Road, Kirkley in Lowestoft with science ambassadors from Red Oak, Pakefield and Reydon primary schools enjoying an afternoon of activities.

A school spokesman said: "The new Phiz Lab will allow children to experience science in an awe-inspiring way, raising aspirations in STEM subjects and making it accessible to all learners.

"The lab will be open to other Active Learning Trust schools, as well as offering different opportunities for community involvement including STEM clubs and twilight sessions."

Science ambassadors from across the South Lowestoft Partnership celebrated the opening of their new Phiz Lab as they were joined by Graham Wrigley from The Ogden Trust.

Rachael Earle, science lead at Red Oak, said: "We are delighted to be able to bring this opportunity to the pupils within the local communities, ensuring they are aware of just how exciting and widespread their future prospects are within science careers and hobbies."
