An inaugural Pride event is set to hit a seafront pavilion next month.

The first East Pride at the Pavilion will take centre stage from 9pm until late on Saturday, August 5 at East Point Pavilion in Lowestoft.

With Lowestoft Town Council organising Lowestoft's first Pride event - Britain's most easterly Pride - on Saturday, August 5, this free event will hit Sparrows Nest Gardens and The Ness from noon to 5pm.

Then, following this event, the party will continue at East Point Pavilion later in the evening.

With the East Point Pavilion owned by East Suffolk Council and run by First Light Festival Community Interest Company (CIC), a spokesman said: "First Light Festival CIC are delighted to be hosting their first ‘East Pride at the Pavilion’, with DJs and drag acts.

"Featuring DJ Michael Angelo and drag queens Ginni Tonix and Mia Mann, they will camp their way through the evening with classic songs, parodies and games.

"These girls are ready to give you a Pride show to remember."

Pavilion traders Tres Hermanas, Taaj and Slice will be putting their spin on Pride with a variety of delicious food as well as a cocktail or two from Sir Toby's.

Held in collaboration with True Colours Lowestoft, the spokesman added: "Throw on your glad rags and show Lowestoft and the East Point Pavilion what pride is really about."

East Point Pavilion general manager Lee Johnson said: "Everyone at the East Point Pavilion is looking forward to this Pride event and we are really pleased to be supporting the first ever Lowestoft Pride.

"The pavilion will be buzzing with colour, music, sparkles and lots of pride fun, so come on down to the party."
