A teenager is set to appear in court next week to face a theft from a motor vehicle charge after a parked car was broken into.

The teenage boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested on suspicion of theft from a vehicle in connection with an incident in Lowestoft.

Police were called at 11.41pm on Thursday, July 13 to reports of a car being broken into on Spashett Road.

Arriving a short time later, officers arrested a teenage boy on suspicion of theft from a vehicle and going equipped with a screwdriver.

After being taken to Great Yarmouth police station for questioning the teenager was later charged.

A police spokesman said this week: "A teenage boy has been charged with theft from a motor vehicle.

"He is due to appear at Norwich Magistrates’ Court on Monday, July 31."
