A local street food brand is flying high after relocating to a new site and winning a national award for its chicken wings.

Jus' Winging It first opened as a brick-and-mortar restaurant on Claremont Pier in Lowestoft in May 2022.

Owner Joe Pybus, 30, who lives in Lowestoft, then moved the business to Regent Road in the Suffolk seaside town in December 2022.

But with rising bills amid the cost of living crisis, he switched from a restaurant to a large catering trailer in May 2023, which is permanently based at The Dairy Courtyard in Oulton Broad.

Mr Pybus now runs the business with his partner Annie Levis and they have also purchased an additional smaller trailer for weddings and other events.

Mr Pybus said: "With the cost of everything, a restaurant wasn't working for us and getting a trailer has reduced our expenses massively.

"The local support has been amazing and we serve chicken wings, cauliflower wings, chicken or beef burgers, loaded fries and children's meals.

"We do takeaways and deliveries and have seating for around 30 people too."

There is even more reason for the couple to celebrate, as Jus' Winging It won the judge's choice award for Best BBQ Wing at Wing Fest in Manchester on August 12 - known as the "Olympics for wings".

Mr Pybus, who is also a DJ, added: "It was one of the most surreal moments of my life and the organisers said that to win an award in our first year was unheard of."

Future plans for Jus' Winging It include investing in a new food truck and converting a horsebox for events, which will serve street food and also be a DJ booth.

Jus' Winging It is open Tuesday to Friday 4pm-10pm, Saturdays 12noon-10pm and Sundays 12noon-9pm and the postcode is NR33 9JU.
