More than 150 athletes from across Waveney, North Norfolk and Brighton hit the beach at Lowestoft to battle it out for the title of top surf life savers.
Waveney Surf Life Saving Club successfully hosted the Eastern Region's Surf Life Saving Championships.
And there was joy for its junior squad - as they retained their title of Eastern Region Surf Life Saving Nipper and Youth Champions.
A club spokesman said: "Life Saving is a thrilling and tough sport that tests the skills and physical fitness of athletes across various water and land-based competencies including swimming, board paddling, surf-ski paddling, board and tube rescues, beach sprints and flags."
Described as a "two-day spectacular" on Lowestoft beach, the Eastern Region's Championship included individual races as well as team events and relays involving four clubs.
Competitors from Waveney, North Norfolk, Mundesley and Brighton Surf Life Saving Club's took part in the event as 160 athletes aged seven to over 60 represented their clubs.
The event was officiated by national organisation Surf Life Saving GB, which travelled from Cornwall to ensure that the contest ran smoothly.
With the skills and fitness of the region’s most talented life savers - several of whom have been patrolling the local beaches as RNLI lifeguards over the summer - showcased, Jo Thompson, co-organiser of the event and member of North Norfolk Surf Life Saving Club, said: "We're absolutely thrilled that the championship went so well and hope that the event will generate more local interest in this amazing sport."
A prize-giving was held at East Point Pavilion in Lowestoft, where teams and individuals and teams received medals as North Norfolk Surf Life Saving Club were crowned overall champions.
Nick Ayers, co-organiser of the event and training officer for Waveney SLSC, said: "We're so proud of our youngsters for retaining their title as champions."
Waveney Surf Life Saving Club trains all year round and welcomes new members of all ages.
