Organisers of the UK's most easterly film festival have launched this year's programme - with its largest-ever official selection of films set to hit screens across the east coast next month.

With the Lowestoft Film Festival (LFF) returning to town for seven days from Friday, October 20 to Friday, October 27, film lovers are set to be in for a treat once more.

After the success of the inaugural festival in 2022, which was attended by more than 2,000 people, its return will feature independent films, talks, Q&As and much more next month.

The programme includes a selection of 130 short films selected from the festival’s 2023 competition submissions including local, regional and national independent filmmakers.

Programmed screenings and events will take place in three community venues, including the East Point Pavilion on Lowestoft’s seafront.

For fans of Netflix’s hit series ‘Sex Education’, Tanya Reynolds - who was part of the series' main cast for the first three seasons - has a starring role in one of this year’s screening short films.

For comedy fans, Seann Walsh also features in the main cast of a short comedy.

Joshua Freemantle, founder of the festival and development producer of Sunrise Studios, said: "This year’s programme once again highlights and celebrates what’s great about independent film, and we can’t wait to welcome audiences back to the town from across the UK to our partner venues in October, we’re also proud to once again be supporting local charity Access Community Trust with all proceeds made throughout the duration of the festival being donated to them."

The festival’s return this year would not be possible without the generous support of Film Hub South East/BFI Film Audience Network, Lowestoft Town Council, Citrus Security Shredding, Summer Isle Studios, Trett Films, Fern Communications, Lowestoft Rising, Access Community Trust and Sunrise Studios.
