The owner of a Suffolk pub has vowed to introduce "enhanced safety measures" at the premises following a police investigation into another fight there.

Police attended a mass brawl at The Waveney in Oulton Broad, near Lowestoft, in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Numerous people were involved in the fracas and it follows another fight in August which led to the pub being closed by police.

A Suffolk police spokesman said: "Police are currently investigating an affray we attended at the Waveney in the early hours of Sunday morning."

The pub's owner has vowed to put in "enhanced security measures" to ensure there is not a repeat incident.

They also said that "no injuries were sustained" in the affray.Lowestoft Journal: Some images from a video of the fight which surfaced onlineSome images from a video of the fight which surfaced online (Image: Submitted) A spokeswoman for Stonegate, which owns the pub, said: “We are saddened by the incident that took place in The Waveney Pub.

"After checking CCTV it has confirmed the venue was not at fault, and no other guests other than the perpetrators, were involved, or impacted in the incident.

"Going forward, enhanced safety measures will be put in place to continue keeping valued guests safe and comfortable.”

The incident is the second fight which police have been called to at the pub in the last two months.

On August 26 a fight at The Waveney saw a man hospitalised and two people arrested.

Following that incident, Suffolk Police issued an order on the premises forcing the pub on Bridge Road to close until Tuesday, August 30.

East Suffolk Council then carried out a licensing review of the pub, which has since concluded and saw no representations being made.
