Musicians who live, work or gig regularly in and around Lowestoft have a day to apply to perform at First Light Festival 2024.

Playbreak, the apply to play scheme which invites local musicians to play at Lowestoft’s midsummer beach festival, closes at 5pm on Friday, November 3.

The scheme was started at 2023’s festival as a way of shining a spotlight on some of the best local talent alongside a programme of national and international acts.

For this year’s festival on June 22/23 2024, First Light organisers have once again sent out the call for musicians.

All musical genres and styles are welcome to apply, with organisers asking that applicants be aged 25+, have at least 45 minutes of original materials, and have a strong connection to Lowestoft and its surrounds.

As with 2023’s callout, one act will be offered the opportunity to perform a special headline slot on the festival’s main Sunlight Stage.

Helen Hayes, music co-ordinator for First Light Festival, said: "I’d really encourage you to take the plunge and apply before Friday’s deadline."
