Festive fun for all is set to attract the crowds to an annual Christmas lights switch-on spectacular.

Lowestoft town centre will be transformed ready for the festive wonderland this Saturday, December 2.

Visitors will be invited to ‘shop local’ in Lowestoft as the new Christmas lights will be illuminated as part of the town's annual event.

The season’s festivities will begin at 2pm with an afternoon of music and live entertainment, building up to the arrival of Father Christmas and his elves ahead of the big switch-on at 5pm.

Stage performances will feature local acts and appearances from some of the Marina Theatre's panto cast of Aladdin, all hosted by Chica DJ.

Lowestoft Town Council will build up to the switch-on with a host of seasonal activities, stalls and entertainment featuring as part of a Christmas Market at the Triangle Market, from 10am to 3pm.

Danny Steel, chairman of Lowestoft Vision -  the Business Improvement District for the town, which provides the annual Christmas lights for the town centre - said: "We are excited to welcome back shoppers, visitors and families alike to this year’s Christmas lights switch-on event.

"Whatever the weather, you will find lots of festive cheer in Lowestoft this weekend."

Angela Grey, Lowestoft Vision’s Business Improvement District Manager, added: "This is a great opportunity for people to show their support for our local shops this weekend, so we encourage everyone to come along to the Lowestoft Christmas Lights switch-on 2023 – come join the party."

The lights on the Pakefield Community Christmas tree will also be switched on at 4.30pm this Saturday, December 2 with Father Christmas spreading some festive cheer as part of an annual event organised by the Pakefield Community Group.

Father Christmas will also be greeting the children of Pakefield during the evenings of December 18/19/20 in the evenings from 5pm to 7pm for those that have booked.
