The plans – which have been submitted to East Suffolk Council – centre around "demolition of existing industrial building and erection of drive-thru kiosk unit and other associated works, plus installation of EVCPs" on a parcel of land in Lowestoft.

If given the green light, it would see "an industrial-style building, previously occupied by Precision Pipework and Pumps-4-All" demolished with a new drive-thru kiosk unveiled on land at Horn Hill.

A design and access statement, produced by agents Firstplan on behalf of the applicants Yelverton Properties (Lowestoft) Limited, states: "The application site comprises a parcel of land which currently features a two-storey terraced industrial unit fronting onto Horn Hill in Lowestoft.

"The application seeks planning permission for the demolition of the existing industrial buildings, to allow for the erection of a kiosk unit to be occupied by Krispy Kreme, together with associated drive-thru lane and other associated physical works, including the provision of new hard and soft landscaping and electric vehicle charging spaces."

The proposed scheme also involves the installation of five electric vehicle charging points, with 10 dedicated electric vehicle charging spaces provided.

It adds: "The kiosk unit will not feature any internal customer seating, meaning that all food sold from the unit will be collected and consumed off-site via the customer collection points.

"The adjacent electric vehicle charging point, to be operated by SSE, will provide much needed EV charging points to the benefit of the local and wider community.

"The kiosk and drive-thru itself will only be accessible between 6am and 11pm daily."

Described as a "single-storey, retail unit" measuring around 31sq m, it concludes: "The proposed kiosk will be occupied by Krispy Kreme, whose occupation will generate employment opportunities and introduce a complementary retail offering to this part of Lowestoft."

The proposal is currently "awaiting decision" with the council.
