Management at a coastal theatre has hailed the success of a sparkling panto.

With traditional pantomime fun having returned to the Marina Theatre in Lowestoft, Aladdin has been enchanting the crowds.

And as the show, produced by Paul Holman Associates, approaches its final few days, theatre bosses said audiences have been enjoying a successful run - with the panto "expected to break Marina’s box office records."

It comes as the Board of Trustees have  confirmed Sam Vallerius as the Marina Theatre's new general manager.

Having stepped into the role on an interim basis in May to maintain the smooth operation of the theatre, a spokesman said: "During this period the Board of Trustees have been exceptionally pleased with how well the theatre has operated under Sam’s leadership and what a strong management group all the department managers have created.

"The successes the theatre has experienced and the happiness of the whole staff team confirmed the board’s resolution to continue with Sam at the helm, supported by the theatre’s experienced and capable staff.

Mrs Vallerius, who hails from Lowestoft, said: "With the help of our department heads we have created a really strong and happy team.

"Every single member of our workforce is dedicated to the theatre and to providing a great experience for the people of Lowestoft and the surrounding areas.

"We have had a very busy autumn/winter season and we are on track to have our most successful pantomime ever.

"We have lots of exciting projects in the pipeline whether it be on our stage or through our community work."

Andy Gallant, chair of the Board for the Marina Theatre Trust, added: "We saw how well the theatre has been doing in the last six months under the dedicated care of Sam Vallerius.

"We have every confidence that this success will continue as we move forward into the new year."

Aladdin runs until New Year’s Day and tickets are still available online or by calling 01502 533200.
