All creatures great and small are set to descend on a church as an annual pet service returns this weekend.

Pet owners and animal lovers are invited to join the team from Wangford Veterinary Clinic and Rev Alan Parry for a special pet blessing service this Sunday.

Held at St Peter and St Paul Church in Wangford, ‘All Creatures Great and Small’ are invited to the special service of thanksgiving and blessing for animals on February 11.

A Wangford Veterinary Clinic spokesman said: "This very special service to give thanks for our pets is a way of recognising the important part that they play in so many people's lives.

"The church here at Wangford is opening its doors to those of a furry, feathered and fluffy persuasion for a special service of thanks and blessing for the animals in our lives, to celebrate them for the way they enhance our days, how they give us so much and ask so little, and how they love unconditionally."

One of the Wangford Vets team will talk about the human animal bond, with people also welcome to tell the congregation why their pet means so much to them.

There will be a time of quiet reflection for animals that have passed away.

Doors open from 10.30am onwards with the service starting at 11.15am.

Everyone is welcome to join this event - with or without pets.

There will also be a collection at the end of the service with all money going to StreetVet Norwich, which provides vital veterinary care for the pets of people experiencing homelessness in Norwich and the surrounding area.

The Wangford Veterinary Clinic spokesman added: "Veterinary surgeon Jenny Clay, who has volunteered her time with the charity will tell us a little about the work they do."
