Plans to turn a former bank into a block of flats have been withdrawn.
Proposals to convert the upper floors of 106 London Road North, in Lowestoft, were lodged with East Suffolk Council in December and were recommended for approval by Lowestoft Town Council in January.
However, they were withdrawn earlier this month.
The plans involved converting and extending the first, second and third floors to make flats. The ground floor, currently occupied by a phone shop, would have remained unchanged.
A planning statement said: "There is a need for our high streets to diversify to meet the housing needs of the growing population.
It added: "The first floor has had minimal commercial viability due to the available storage provision to the ground floor and has therefore been unoccupied for a number of years."
The document had promised a development which would "sit harmoniously within the high street of Lowestoft and draw upon the positive design elements of the local vernacular".
