Police and coastguard have used helicopters in the search for missing a 45-year-old man.

Matthew Coxon was last seen at 6.30pm on Sunday (March 17) before being reported missing at 12.40am on Monday (March 18) after he failed to return home in Lowestoft.

Officers located his car, a bronze Toyota Prius, in the car park at Dip Farm, off Corton Road in Gunton.

A spokesman for Suffolk Police said: "Mathew’s disappearance is out of character and family and police are concerned for his welfare."

Coastguard teams were called to help with the search at 2.20am on Monday with teams from Lowestoft and Gorleston, RNLI lifeboats, and a search and rescue helicopter assisting in the search.

The helicopter covered areas over the coast between Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth before heading back at around 10am.

Police and HM Coastguard are also searching areas around Gunton, assisted by Suffolk Lowland Search and Rescue.

Anyone who may have seen Mr Coxon or has any information regarding his whereabouts is asked to contact the duty sergeant at Lowestoft Police Station on 101.
