A GROUP with more than 40 members from companies in and around Lowestoft has raised over 750 for the East Anglian Air Ambulance - and now it's gearing up to help another local charity.

Waveney Safety and Environment Group (WASEG), is a non-profit group which has been running for more than a decade with a membership that draws from businesses all over Lowestoft and Waveney.

The group holds regular breakfast meetings to keep members up to date with information from guest speakers in the health safety and environmental sectors, and every year it has an annual conference at the Holiday Inn, Norwich Airport, where a raffle raises money for one of its two chosen charities.

At last year's event, more than 800 was raised for the air ambulance, and at this year's event in October, money will be raised for East Anglian Children's Hospices (EACH).

WASEG's secretary, Lorraine Bedford, said: 'We always have a fantastic response with the raffle from the delegates…We hold it throughout the day and we always manage to attract a good number of donations from the people who attend. The proceeds go to one of two fantastic local charities that work hard to provide us all with better care in very important and different ways.'

WASEG's next event will be held at the Hotel Victoria, Lowestoft on Thursday, June 24 from 7:30am. The speaker is Jan Davis of Great Yarmouth Borough Council on the topic of 'Business Continuity'.
