GRIME scene investigators hit the streets of Lowestoft town centre this week in a bid to solve the sticky problem of chewing gum on the pavements.
The pieces of gum stuck to the street in London Road North were highlighted by the team on Monday to show the extent of the problem.
The area will now be steam cleaned and reassessed over the coming weeks to see whether new gum targets are an effective way to stop people dropping their gum on the floor.
The targets are fixed to posts and are removed once they are covered in gum. Six targets have been put up in Lowestoft and two were put up in Beccles and Bungay last week.
