The recently saved Seagull Theatre, in Pakefield, has announced that the final rep company production for the year will be William Shakespeare's Macbeth, starring Abi Titmuss as Lady Macbeth.

Abi followed her rise to fame and television appearances on Hell's Kitchen, Celebrity Love Island and Hotel Babylon with an award-winning stage debut in Arthur Miller's Two Way Mirror.

This year alone has seen her undertake a national tour in The Naked Truth, several movie appearances, a successful entry into opera and the starring role in Hull Truck's production of the rugby league-inspired comedy Up N' Under, directed by playwright John Godber.

“I am determined to become known as an actress and not just for being famous. I have been very lucky with the parts I have been offered and intend to make the most of them,” she said this week. “It is a real challenge taking on such a wide variety of parts and I have been working very hard.”

Despite her success in London Abi is looking forward to appearing at the Seagull.

“It is such a lovely theatre and I was very impressed when I was given a tour when I appeared at the town's Marina Theatre earlier this year. I am really looking forward to returning to Lowestoft and working on such an exciting production,” she said.

The actress is to round off her year by playing Shakespeare's infamous femme fatale in the Seagull Rep's hard-hitting modern dress production.

The Seagull's artistic director John Hales said: “We're delighted to have Abi on board for this production. She's always been a huge fan of theatre and is really making a stand for the smaller theatres across the country by playing Lady Macbeth at the Seagull.

“The publicity will be great for us as we rebuild the theatre, but more importantly, we're lucky to have such a dedicated, talented, powerful and classy actress working with us.”

Macbeth runs at the Seagull from November 18 to 22 and then tours other East Anglian venues including The Cut, at Halesworth, Bungay's Fisher Theatre and at Norwich until December 4.

Tickets are £10 and £9 and are available from the Seagull box office on 01502 589726.
