Musical sign language interpreter Dr Paul Whittaker recently visited the Lowestoft and District Deaf Society in Blackheath Road for a workshop day with the Lowestoft Signing Choir (LSC).
Dr Whittaker OBE, from Yorkshire, has been profoundly deaf since the age of eight. He is a well-known interpreter of stage shows into British Sign Language and has performed all around the country. Paul first met the choir when they won the prestigious Billy Dorkins trophy at the Jersey Eisteddfod in 2013 and has become a good friend.
Julie Robbins, chairman of LSC Trustees, said: 'It is the second time Paul has visited us. His mastery and creativity of signing showed us how to build atmosphere, emotion and feeling into the songs. Members of the choir found the day inspirational, invigorating and really helpful.'
Julie added: 'The choir has also recently taken part in the first national signing choir competition at Nottingham achieving a bronze certificate.'
