Despite filming the first series of the CBeebies show 'Grandpa in my Pocket' last summer, 11-year-old Josie Cable, who plays Jemima Mason in the programme, had never set foot in Suffolk until this week.

The comedy-drama, which also stars James Bolam as the shrinking grandpa, is filmed in studios in Cardiff, with just the exterior shots being taken in the county.

But while on her Easter holidays visiting family in Gorleston, Norfolk, the young actress, who lives over 200 miles away on the outskirts of Bristol, was surprised with a visit to Aldeburgh, Southwold and Walberswick to see where the show is set.

Josie said the highlight of her Suffolk tour was visiting Sea Horse cottage in Aldeburgh, the home of her on-screen family, the Masons.

'It was great, it was the first time I have actually seen where it is set. Seeing the house was the best bit, because it is so much smaller than it looks on TV.

'It is really fun filming the show, and I have signed up to shoot the next series in the summer holidays.'

Her great-aunt Edna Boddy said her family were 'extremely proud' of Josie and loved taking her on her trip around Suffolk to see where the series is set.

'She was over the moon, everywhere we went,' she said. 'Aldeburgh is such a lovely place and Josie loved seeing the cottage, and visiting the pier in Southwold. She was overwhelmed with it all.'

Like her character Jemima, Josie loves singing, acting and dancing. She said: 'There are lots of similarities. She is a really girly girl and loves the colour pink, and I am too, it's my favourite colour.

'She is always annoyed with her brother, and my older brother is always getting on my nerves.'

At the age of 11 Josie has already starred on stage in several musicals, including Joesph and Dr Doolittle, where she was spotted by James Bolam and picked from 365 young actors for her part in 'Grandpa in my Pocket.'

But she said it is difficult to say which she prefers.

'I love the thrill of being on stage, but I also like being on set in the studio, if you make a mistake it doesn't matter, you can just re-shoot.'
