I cycle past the Marine Parade/ Belvedere Road junction every day and can appreciate the danger.
Only a few weeks ago I was nearly knocked off by a car turning left without warning from the right hand lane.
Luckily, I was paying attention and was able to stop in time while the driver sped off up Marine Parade, probably unaware that I was even there. It gave me quite a shock. You need eyes in the back of your head all the time.
It was dark at the time and even the best cycle lights do not show up against the headlamps of oncoming cars. I only travel at about 10 miles an hour and motorists are always overtaking me and turning in front.
The advice Mr King gave was sound and made good sense but does not apply to those cycling on the pavement.
