A leading cast member from the touring production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat enthralled the next generation of West End wannabes with a drama master class in Lowestoft.

Squeezing the class in before three shows on Saturday at the town's Marina Theatre, Dean Read, who plays Reuben, described the enthusiasm of the youngsters as “brilliant”.

“I started singing at eight but I never went to a Saturday drama class and I think it is really good to start young,” he said.

About 30 youngsters, ranging in age from six to 18, attend weekly classes in dance, singing and acting put on by Theatretrain - a national performing arts school - at Kirkley High School.

Centre director Sharon Jones said they had invited Dean to inspire youngsters ahead of their own production of Joseph at the Norwich Playhouse next April.

She said: “He left them spellbound. A lot of the youngsters have already gone to see the show in Lowestoft.”
