DETECTIVES in Lowestoft are renewing appeals for information after thieves wearing motorcycle helmets with the visors down raided a shop in the town.

An unknown amount of cash was stolen in the robbery at Kerry's Mini Market in Stanley Street around 8.55pm on Sunday, October 26.

A woman shop assistant was in the store when two men entered wearing the motorcycle helmets with the visors down. She told them to take them off but one came around the counter and the other jumped over, pushing her to the floor and demanding cash. They then opened the till and took notes from it before making off. The assistant was shocked but uninjured.

The two thieves - described as being around 5ft 8ins to 5ft 10ins tall, of medium build, one wearing a dark coloured top with light coloured sleeves with a hood showing, the other wearing a dark hooded top, and both wearing dark coloured crash helmets with blacked-out visors - then fled the scene on white trials bike.

A witness saw one of the men with the visor of the helmet up and described him as white, with dark eyebrows.

The trials bike was recovered from a wooded area at Peto Way on the morning of Monday, October 27.

Enquiries revealed this bike was stolen from close to the Royal Mail sorting office at Barnards Way between 4.30pm and 6.20pm on Thursday, October 16.

Police are renewing appeals for information. If you know where the bike was between October 16 and October 27 then contact police.

Detectives would also like to hear from anyone who has information about the robbery itself. Information should be directed to Lowestoft CID on 01986 835300, or Crimestoppers, anonymously if required, on 0800 555 111.
