A 50-YEAR-OLD woman valiantly fought off a would-be robber, who tried to steal her handbag in Lowestoft.

Police investigations are underway after the attempted handbag snatch in the Arnold Street area around 5.

A 50-YEAR-OLD woman valiantly fought off a would-be robber, who tried to steal her handbag in Lowestoft.

Police investigations are underway after the attempted handbag snatch in the Arnold Street area around 5.45pm on Saturday, November 8.

The 50-year-old was walking home along London Road North when she noticed a woman - described as large built, quite masculine in appearance and wearing a grey tracksuit - stood on the corner of Regent Road.

The 50-year-old continued on her way into Milton Road East and into Arnold Street and then heard someone running up behind her. She then saw the woman who had been standing at the corner of Regent Road grab her bag. The 50-year-old began shouting and fighting off the would-be robber. The attacker then ran off empty handed and fled back towards the town centre.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen the incident, or who may have information about the thief to call Lowestoft police on 01986 835300.
