A BANK card and cash were stolen after an incident at a cashpoint machine in Lowestoft town centre.

A 72-year-old man went to deposit money at the Nationwide ATM in London Road North about 10.15am this morning (Monday, November 12). He put his card in but the machine would not accept the envelope with the cash in so he went inside for assistance. Moments later he realised the card was still in the machine and went back to retrieve it but the card was gone and it was then discovered that someone had withdrawn more than £200 from his account.

Police are asking anyone who may have been in the vicinity of the machine around this time to come forward if you have any information and are making inquiries to trace the thief.

● Information to PC 1698 Stimpson at Lowestoft police on 101.
