Over the past 11 years the A12 has received substandard treatment.

The de-trunking of the road by the government has made it much more difficult to obtain funds for the road's much-needed upgrading at a time when investment in the region is badly needed. Yet again no support is given to our area by New Labour.

Transport spending in the Eastern Counties is the lowest in the country at almost half what is allocated in the south east.

At a time when the population in the region is growing fast there is a need for investment in road and rail infrastructure to enhance Waveney's economic prospects.

Unfortunately letters from ministers to government agencies are merely a fig leaf and do not conceal this government's poor record.
