IN reference to the Belvedere Road traffic fiasco, I use this road several times a day and see the frustration it causes to drivers who use the correct left-hand lane when there is only one lane north.

As it has been said before, the signage on leaving the Asda roundabout is quite clear: you should only be using the left-hand lane if there is only one lane north on the bridge!
If you are in the left-hand lane you are not obliged to let a vehicle in the right-hand incorrect lane into your line of traffic as there are no merge in turn signs so the police have no power to make you!
I would like to see the police try to prosecute someone for not letting a driver using the right-hand lane merge into the correct lane, it would never reach court!
Until merge in turn signs are installed I will not be letting drivers using the incorrect lane in!
Also regarding the stretch of road from the M.R King roundabout to the Asda roundabout, the right-hand lane is marked on the roadway with directional arrows for the seafront only and therefore must not be used by traffic intending to go down Belvedere Road!
If the police want traffic to merge in turn in Belvedere Road, it follows that it must apply to Denmark Road / Station Square and Waveney Road for traffic heading to the bridge when there is only one lane south even though the signs are quite clear there too!
The traffic problems will never be solved until we get a new bridge, but it will not happen any time soon as Lowestoft is well down the list of priorities!
