MORE than 200 drivers were caught speeding in Suffolk each day during a police enforcement campaign, which is a big rise on the last available figures.

Tispol, the European Traffic Police Network, ran the crackdown on speedsters alongside Suffolk's Roads Policing Unit for a week from Monday, August 23.

They caught 1,400 speeding motorists from across the county, of whom 1,116 were found by police officers and another 337 by fixed speed cameras.

This marks an increase of more than 150pc compared to the most recent campaign in April, when just 900 motorists were caught.
