Blaze hits house in Corton

FIREFIGHTERS from Lowestoft spent an hour tackling a house fire in Corton early this morning.

Three crews attended the blaze as more than 15 firefighters dealt with the fire in the first floor of a semi-detached house in The Street.

Three crews attended the blaze as more than 15 firefighters dealt with the fire in the first floor of a semi-detached house in The Street.

They were called to the scene at 1am and on their arrival discovered 5m x 10m of the house well alight.

Four breathing apparatus and a hose reel were used and paramedics gave oxygen to two casualties at the scene.

Residents reported that the residents, an elderly woman and her middle aged son, were taken to hospital for checks but were back in the village later that morning.
