LOWESTOFT mayor Nigel Dack and Lowestoft Lions president Keith Moore trod carefully as they took a "blind walk" through the town centre as part of a special event.

The pair, with Lions helpers Dave Bradford and Mick Woodruff, were helping to promote World Sight Day.

The Lions have also held their annual Peace Poster competition, and the winning entries will be on display from next Monday until Friday at the central Lowestoft Library in Clapham Road South.

More than 250 entries were judged with youngsters from Ashley, Saint Felix and the Warren Schools all taking part this year. The first, second and third place posters from each school will be on show as part of the public display.

This year’s theme was Vision of Peace, and organisers say the 13- and 14-year-old children have achieved high standards with their entries.

Mr Woodruff, organiser for the Lions, said: “Please take time to visit the library and witness the good side of the majority of children in our world who never get mentioned enough.”
