FANS and players of Lowestoft Town FC travel to Gloucester tomorrow with the chance of a thrilling FA Cup First Round tie within their grasp.

The Blues go head-to-head with Gloucester City in a huge match that could see them set-up a mouth-watering clash with the likes of Leeds United, Southampton, Charlton Athletic or even Norwich City. A victory would also see the club win 12,500 in prize money.

It's been 11 years since the club last found themselves 90 minutes from mixing it with Football League clubs in the first round proper of the FA Cup, and 32 years since they last made it into the much-sought after hat. The added bonus of a potential money-spinning trip to Elland Road, St Mary's, The Valley or Carrow Road, makes the first round an even more tempting prospect this year, with such a game likely to draw the attention of the television cameras.

The club has made it into the first round proper five times in its history, falling to Watford twice, Swindon Town, Leyton Orient and, most recently, Cambridge United.

This year, Lowestoft made it into the final qualifying round after a stunning 2-1 third qualifying round replay win at Sutton Coldfield, and the Trawler Boys will be hoping for another away trip to remember.

Gloucester currently sit 15th in the Blue Square North Division, but The Blues will take comfort that their higher league opposition have lost six out of seven home league games this season.

The Tigers made it into the hat for the draw after beating both Bashley and Dorchester Town 2-1 away from their current temporary home at The Corinium, Cirencester.

Coaches have been arranged for fans who will be making the 460-mile round trip early tomorrow morning and they will be hoping to witness another moment of history for the club.

Lowestoft Town join boss Micky Chapman said: "It's another big, big game which will go down as one of the biggest games in the history of the club. We're all up for it, we're all looking forward to it and all I can say is we'll do our best."
