MARITIME enthusiasts in Lowestoft have a great day in store as prestigious Round Britain Powerboat Race and the world's oldest steamship, the SS Robin, arrive at the harbour today.

MARITIME enthusiasts in Lowestoft have a great day in store as prestigious Round Britain Powerboat Race and the world's oldest steamship, the SS Robin, arrive at the harbour today.

This afternoon, forty boats of all shapes and sizes, including the Lowestoft based Ocean Pirate, are expected to descend on the port in the penultimate stop of the powerboat race that covers the coastline of Britain in 10 action packed days.

Spectators can expect the first boats to arrive at about 1pm and the rest over the next two hours. The fleet heads off again on Monday at about 8am.

Also today, the SS Robin will be arriving at the harbour to undergo restoration. She is expected to arrive at 9am and will be docked at the north quayside for six months as part of a £2m project to transform the ship.
