Bogus council worker steals cash

A THIEF claiming to be a council worker stole cash from a home in Melbourne Road, Lowestoft.

The man visited the house at about 4.35pm yesterday and said he needed to inspect the property.

A THIEF claiming to be a council worker stole cash from a home in Melbourne Road, Lowestoft.

The man visited the house at about 4.35pm yesterday and said he needed to inspect the property. He was white, in his 20s, about 5ft 3in and stocky.

It is the latest in a spate of distraction and aggravated burglaries across Suffolk.

Police said anyone who believes bogus callers are operating in their neighbourhood should call 999 or the main switchboard number on 01986 835300.
