Bulbs will be planted to bring a splash of colour to a popular park as a community event takes centre stage.

With Fen Park Friends organising numerous events over the years to regenerate the park in Southwell Road, Kirkley, the first community event of the year will be held between 10am and 2pm on Saturday, January 20.

Clare Strachan, of Fen Park Friends, said: 'Come down to Fen Park and join in with our bulb planting and litter pick.'

With 1,000 February gold daffodil bulbs donated to the group by Waveney Norse, the Latter Day Saints helping hands group from Lowestoft will be joining in to plant the daffodil bulbs.

Representatives from the Kirkley People's Forum will also be on the park to talk to residents about their work, and the charity is supplying various refreshments on the day. The Fen Park Friends group is organising a litter pick on the day, with volunteers welcome to come along and help out with the planting and clean-up.
