THE difficult task of judging more than 70 nominations for the inaugural Lowestoft and Waveney Chamber of Commerce Business Awards will begin in earnest over the coming weeks.

Companies of all sizes and types are being recognised in the awards which highlight the wide range of expertise in the Waveney area.

Linda Thornton, chief office of the chamber, said she was pleased so many businesses had entered.

“We have had over 70 applications for these business awards and we have been delighted with the response for this first ever local event,” she said.

Because of the high number of companies involved with the awards it is likely they will become an annual fixture in the Waveney area business calendar.

One of the smallest companies being nominated in the awards is Richard Rutty Removals and Storage.

The family-run business is based in Lowestoft and caters for both domestic and commercial clients.

Company owner Richard Rutty said: “All our staff are fully trained and have been in the removal industry for many years. From Lands End to John O'Groats we can move your treasured possessions from a small family property to a large country house.”

The company is proud of the letters of gratitude and recommendations received from happy customers.

“We strive for excellence, quality and customer service within the removals industry,” said Mr Rutty.

Businesses across the Waveney area will be recognised at the awards ceremony being held at the Wherry Hotel, Oulton Broad, on November 20.

Tickets for the event are available from the Lowestoft and Waveney Chamber of Commerce costing £30 plus VAT each.
