Busy weekend for police in Lowestoft

THE Bank Holiday weekend saw a number of serious incidents in the Lowestoft area that police are currently investigating including a robbery, attempted robbery and a rock being thrown through the windscreen of a car.

A 22-year-old man sustained swelling to his forehead and cuts and grazes to his arms after he was assaulted and robbed of his wallet in Ethel Road in the early hours of Sunday.

The 22-year-old was walking home along Wollaston Road about 1.30am and was just walking into Ethel Road when someone called out to him. Two men then approached him and he was assaulted and knocked to the ground. The two demanded cash and took his wallet, which contained cards, and his wristwatch.

The 22-year-old made his way to a friend's home and police were notified a short time later.

The offenders are both described as white and aged in their late teens to 20s. One wore a hooded top the other a baseball cap.

A 27-year-old man received facial injuries and pain to his arms and legs after he was attacked and an attempt made to steal his wallet and mobile phone in Dove Street in the early hours of yesterday.

The 27-year-old was walking home along the road around 1.45am when he was approached by a youth who briefly spoke to him before assaulting him. The 27-year-old fell to the ground and the assault continued. A second male then appeared and tried to remove valuables from his jeans pockets. This was unsuccessful and nothing was taken. However other items the 27-year-old man was carrying were damaged in the attack.

The two offenders then ran off towards Boston Road. The 27-year-old sustained bruising and a cut to his lip.

Both of the males are described as white, with one in his late teens to early 20s, around 5ft 10ins tall, of slim/ skinny build and with a young, pale face. He was wearing a light coloured hooded top with thin horizontal stripes and dark coloured jeans and trainers. The other male was wearing a dark coloured hooded top.

Police are also appealing for information after someone threw a rock at a blue Toyota Corolla being driven along the Ravine on Saturday evening, causing the windscreen of the vehicle to smash.

A 42-year-old woman was driving the car down the road about 9.15pm, with her two young children in the back of the car.

As she approached the footbridge a rock was thrown, smashing the windscreen of the car and causing it to smash in on driver. The woman narrowly avoided crashing the vehicle and was left extremely shaken.
