The Journal's popular annual Pets on Parade competition to find the region's top dog and top cat begins in a few weeks.

More than 600 readers' votes flooded in for the cats and dogs featured in last year's competition, which was won by Irish red setter Teisha and Milo the cat.

In partnership with Picture Studios, in London Road North, The Journal is looking for 2008's dog and cat with the X factor.

The winning feline and hound, chosen by readers, will each get: a 20inx16in framed portrait by Picture Studios; a personalised porcelain birth tablet, including a photograph and name and date of birth, courtesy of Lowestoft Porcelain; plus a personalised dog or cat bowl from the Paint and Create company.

Runners-up win a 10inx8in framed portrait and a personalised bone china mug; with third place winning a 7inx5in framed portrait of their pet.

All the entry photographs will be taken FREE of charge, by appointment only, on the premises of Picture Studios, at 179 London Road North, between Monday and Saturday, February 11 and 16.

Cat and dog owners will be given the chance to make an appointment with top photographer Deborah Goddard, of Picture Studios, to have professional photographs taken of their pets during the set dates.

All the photographs will be published in The Journal with a voting form to be sent in by readers nominating their favourite pet.

Once the votes have been counted, the owners of the winning top dog and cat will be contacted by The Journal to arrange for a grand presentation of prizes.

If you think your pet has star quality, call Picture Studios for an appointment on 01502 573154, complete the entry form in this week's Journal and take it along when attending the appointment.
