A public meeting is to be held to give Lowestoft residents a chance to air their views about a range of issues affecting the town.

Labour's parliamentary candidate for Waveney, Bob Blizzard, and businessman Peter Colby have organised the event at the Hotel Victoria on Wednesday, January 28, starting at 7pm. Mr Colby said the event would be an open meeting but that the main topic on the agenda would be a report by consultants WSP into the three options for Lowestoft's third crossing.

'This report was produced at a cost of around £100,000, yet very few local people were consulted as to its content,' said Mr Colby. Of those that were, the majority wanted a central route and only three per cent of the people that were consulted said they wanted the eastern route.

'With this in mind, Bob and I are trying to consult the people and gauge popular opinion on this and associated local matters.'

Similar meetings organised by Mr Colby and Mr Blizzard have attracted around 300 people.
