A competition designed to increase sporting participation among the elderly is set to grace Suffolk.

The 'Care Home Olympics' will begin at 11am on Monday, January 22, with over 30 care providers from across Suffolk taking part.

Hosting the first session of the games will be Kirkley Manor Care Home, who will be hoping to fend off competition in sports such as bowls and curling.

Event organisers, Elatus Sports, hope to promote inclusiveness when it comes to sport and want to emphasise its adaptability by altering different disciplines to suit people's disabilities.

Elatus is a social enterprise that was set up in 2013 to continue the legacy of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and is partly funded by Suffolk County Council.
