Residents at a specialist dementia care home in Lowestoft held a special fun day event for a church playgroup.

Harleston House recently held an inaugural fun day as part of the home's Eden Alternative ethos – an initiative to support residents in building links with the community, especially with young children.

The residents were supported to host the event for the Trinity Methodist Church playgroup on the front lawn of their care home in Park Road, Lowestoft. The attractions included a bouncy castle, an ice-cream van, musical instruments and games, all free of charge for the children to enjoy. Activities team leader, Gareth Harding, said: 'Seeing the residents interacting with the little ones and enjoying each other's company is priceless.'

Susan Graham, home manager, said: 'What a joy it has been seeing the connections made between my residents and the local nursery. It was an enjoyable morning for all.'
