A care home will host its second monthly dementia drop-in this week.
The Lilac Lodge care home in Gorleston Road, Oulton Broad will hold a free event for people living with dementia and their carers from 10.30am to noon this Friday, April 28.
It provides a welcome opportunity for people living with dementia and their carers to meet up for a chat over cakes and hot and cold drinks. Zena Stotter, manager of the Kingsley Healthcare run home, said: 'The number of people caring at home for family members living with dementia is increasing year on year. That gave us the idea for this drop-in which has come at an opportune time because of the recent cuts to some services.
'The need for it is highlighted only too well by the case of one lady I spoke to at our first event last month. She told us how she only has four hours respite a week from caring for her husband with no family support locally.'
The plan over the coming months is to develop the drop-in by inviting representatives of different charities to come along to signpost services and offer advice and support.
