Friends and family of people living in care homes were invited to spend the day with their loved ones and enjoy some special entertainment.

North Bay House care home on Borrow Road, Oulton Broad also opened its doors on Friday, June 19 to a group of children from Chernobyl, who performed for the residents.

Alice Tabiner, 95, lives at the home and said: 'It has been different! The children were so enthusiastic and the rhythm of their songs was wonderful - I was tapping along!

'It has been a good day.'

Manager Rachel Thompson said it has been a day full of events for the residents.

'We've had a hog roast for lunch, which was brilliant, we had a wonderful singer who came in we've had activities outside, bric-a-brac, a name the chicken competition, a raffle, it has all been very entertaining!'

Over at Britten Court in Love Road, staff put on a 1950s beach-themed day for residents and their families.

They enjoyed chips wrapped in newspaper, staff dressed up in clothes from the era and there were even two donkeys happy to pose for pictures.

Pupils from the reception class at nearby Roman Hill Primary School visited residents, as did Britain's Got Talent's Jeffrey Drayton, who made balloon models.

Head of housekeeping Sarah Emery said: 'It's nice so many people have turned out. we've been really impressed with the support the families and the local community has given us.'
