A SERIES of events to raise the awareness of what police, local agencies and volunteers are doing to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour in the Waveney area are set to be held next week.

Highlighting the “excellent partnership work” that is taking place across Suffolk, police chiefs will join the local district councils, Neighbourhood Watch and other partnership agencies as part of the Not In My Neighbourhood Week.

The week, which is supported by the Home Office, runs from next Monday, November 2 through to Friday, November 6.

Superintendent Ian Sidney, Head of Citizen Focus said: “Not In My Neighbourhood Week is a prime example of the partnership work that is going on across Suffolk every day to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour. By raising awareness of the week I hope that communities will recognise how problems can be solved more effectively by working together.

These engagement events will be held across the district at the following times and places:

Next Monday an all day Action Day has been organised by the Beccles, Bungay, Southwold and Halesworth Safer Neighbourhood Team officers in conjunction with Waveney District Council and Waveney Norse as they team up to tackle the issue of fly tipping and litter in the towns.

Police Community Support Officers, District and Parish Councillors as well as other partners will be present throughout the day, offering a coding service for any valuables such as bicycles and mobile phones and other crime reduction advice as well as handing out questionnaires to locals.
