Charity set to move into new Lowestoft town centre base

Exciting times lie in store for a community healthcare provider as it prepares to move to a new base in Lowestoft.
East Coast Community Healthcare (ECCH) – a social enterprise that provides a range of community-based NHS and social care in the Great Yarmouth and Waveney areas – looks set to move from its headquarters in Beccles to Lowestoft next year.
It comes after the sale of part of the Hamilton House office building in Battery Green Road to ECCH.
With ECCH currently renting space in Beccles, they have been looking for new premises to buy – and they now plan to renovate the unoccupied top part of the building over the next six to nine months, turning it into their new headquarters.
With Hamilton House providing more space, this will allow about 120 staff at its Beccles headquarters to move to Lowestoft along with clinical staff from some of ECCH’s other sites. ECCH’s chief executive Jonathan Williams said: “This is an exciting time for us. It is four years since ECCH came into being as a social enterprise and it’s time for us to find a base of our own. Hamilton House presents us with a large space we can adapt to our needs and gives us the flexibility to bring both clinical and administrative staff under one roof. It also plants us firmly at the heart of the community which we serve and in an area of Lowestoft which is undergoing a transformation in terms of business growth and investment.”
The sale of the site was completed by business and finance advisers Grant Thornton UK for an undisclosed sum. Eddie Williams, of Grant Thornton, said: “I am very pleased that we have completed the sale of Hamilton House to a community interest company. This is great news for the Lowestoft community.”
Part of Hamilton House is already the base for Custom Kitchens Lowestoft – the design and installation company who supply kitchens, bedrooms and living furniture across East Anglia.
