I WOULD like to make cyclists aware of CTC's "Stop Smidsy"(Sorry Mate I Didn't See You) campaign.

CTC has set up a website to gather evidence to prove to Parliament that there is a need for much severer penalties for careless and dangerous driving.

Although the website is for cyclists reporting incidents, CTC argues that it will benefit all road users, including pedestrians.

On the site you can, report crashes, near misses, help collect evidence to support CTC's campaign to stop bad driving, get information about the law, get practical tips on dealing with bad driving, and get in touch with lawyers from CTC's legal help service

I suspect some drivers might be considering writing along the lines that it's a pity there isn't a website for reporting incidents with cyclists.

Department for Transport research shows that in 85pc of accidents involving drivers and cyclists the drivers are at fault.

Edmund King, president of the Automobile Association, has publicly said that drivers need to be much more aware of cyclists and how to treat them.

CTC is considering a joint campaign with Mr King for more severe penalties for all bad road behaviour, including cyclists.
