A FORMER winner of the National Lottery this week urged players in the Lowestoft and Yarmouth areas to check their old tickets as the hunt for a big winner moved up a gear.
A ticket with the numbers 8, 14, 18, 23, 27 and 44 is worth a cool £548,030 to its lucky owner, who bought it on Boxing Day. However, he or she only has until 5.30pm on June 23 to come forward or the money will be donated to charity.
Lowestoft man Graham Howlett, who scooped £2.24m in 2004, said: “The money is well worth winning and would really set you up.
“It would mean no mortgage and you wouldn't have to work so hard in the future. I can't see the point in buying tickets and not checking them.”
Mr Howlett, 50, gave up his job at the Birds Eye factory and he and his wife Christine moved to a new house in Lowestoft.
He added: “It's given us the freedom to do what we want and we've got no worries. We bought my two stepdaughters and house each and things are good.”
A spokesman for the National Lottery said: “Time really is running out for this winner of this prize, but we are still hopeful that someone will come forward at the last minute to claim the money.”
