A few months ago, a Lowestoft high school took audiences on a magical Disney journey.

But next week, students will be hitting the stage once more to showcase a festive spectacular.

Another all singing, all dancing Christmas Spectacular will see more than 125 students take to the stage at Benjamin Britten Music Academy for its annual festive show.

And such has been the demand for tickets to see a talented cast of 128 students and a live band, that an extra performance has been added.

Christmas Spectacular will be held at the school on Blyford Road next Wednesday and Thursday, December 14/15, with the extra bonus of an additional night on Monday, December 19. The show features Christmas favourites such as Winter Wonderland and Merry Christmas Everyone. It also includes wonderful choir numbers and a few surprises in store.

Rehearsals have been under way for the last seven weeks and the staff and students have worked tirelessly to bring this Christmas Spectacular to life.

Head of Performing Arts, Corinne Harrod-Breen, said: 'The staff and students have worked so hard to bring the Christmas magic to our school. I am so privileged to work alongside them and showcase their talents to the community.

'The range and talent of the students here is exceptional. This has been another wonderful year for Performing Arts with the national nomination for choreography for Rock Challenge.'

The production has involved many students across the school – from the student choreographers, the technical and backstage crew led by Lee Chapman and students involved in both costume and make up design.

Technical director Mr Chapman said: 'The band have worked many hours to master some Christmas classics alongside technically challenging modern pop songs. We are very proud of them all.'

Year 11 student Jamie Coleman said: 'This is my fifth and final Christmas production and I have loved every one. The shows here have really given me the chance to express myself and I have really enjoyed being a senior Performing Arts leader'

Year 7 pupil Sonny Rouse said: 'Since joining Benjamin Britten in September I have become part of the Wembley choir, gained a place on the Rock Challenge dance team and now am part of the Christmas Spectacular. It has been a fantastic start to high school.'
