After a successful summer cleaning up our beautiful Norfolk and Waveney beaches it's time to get down to the sand one final time.

As part of the EDP's Big Coast Clean Up campaign, this newspaper is encouraging people to take part in The Great British Beach Clean this weekend.

Over three days people concerned about the health of our beaches across the UK have organised beach cleans to help clear up after a busy summer season.

Norfolk and Waveney beaches are no different with 13 events taking place across the region.

The event, run by the Marine Conservation Society, has been running for the last 24 years with nearly 7,000 volunteers taking part last year. More than 7,000 volunteers have already signed up to more than 400 beach cleans.

Marine Conservation Society beach and river clean-up project officer Lizzie Prior said: 'Since last year, we've seen the BBC's Blue Planet II effect, so that more and more people have been keen to clean beaches at our many events throughout the year.

'We hope it'll make this year's Great British Beach Clean the biggest, by volunteer number, ever.'
