Scarecrows of all shapes and sizes took over a north Suffolk village.

About 50 weird and wonderful creations were on display during Reydon's sixth annual scarecrow trail on the weekend of September 9-10.

Ed Sheeran and Harry Potter made appearances alongside popular local favourites including Old Ginger, the Town Crier and 1st Southwold Scouts 'Bear Grilled' creation around a camp fire.

The popular bi-annual festival attracted a good turnout as visitors made their way around the displays, which could be found at the village hall and in people's front gardens.

Instead of having an expert judging panel, members of the public then returned to Reydon Village Hall to cast their votes for the best creation.

Those taking part were also challenged to find 10 hidden sunflowers around the village and enjoy tea and cakes while casting their votes in the village hall.

With the event raising funds in aid of the Reydon Christmas lights switch-on, a spokesman for the organisers said: 'This year was the sixth Scarecrow Trail since it started in 2010 and with 50 scarecrows spread across the village, there was plenty to see.

'As always it was well supported by the community, despite the weather forecast and occasional grey skies. Many people, often with young children, walked and cycled around the village to view them, before returning to the Village Hall to vote for their favourite scarecrow.

'All the money raised over the weekend goes to support Reydon Christmas Lights and it is hoped that this year will have raised in excess of £1,300.'

With a trail programme, complete with a map of Reydon, highlighting all the entries and where they could be found, event organisers praised everyone who took part.

The spokesman said: 'We really hope that you enjoy looking around our lovely village. We would like to express our thanks to everyone who supported us by making a fantastic range of scarecrows again this year. There are many people who help to make the Scarecrow Trail a success. We would like to thank all those who promoted the trail by selling programmes, displayed posters and lent their railings to display our banner, also the organising committee and everyone who works tirelessly over the weekend to make it happen.'
