POLICE are stepping up patrols in south Lowestoft after a spate of potentially dangerous incidents recently where items - including a lump of concrete - have been thrown at passing vehicles.

Damage was caused to a red Ford C-Max being driven along Kirkley Cliff Road about 5.30pm on Monday (February 7), after a small lump of concrete was thrown at the vehicle.

'The car was being driven close to Kensington Gardens when there was a thud,' a police spokesman said. The driver later checked and found a dent and scratches to the side of the vehicle.'

Police need to trace a group of children who were seen in the gardens near the bowling green at the time and officers are asking anyone who saw the incident or who has information about who threw the piece of concrete to call PC 385 Youngs on 01986 835300.

'Police are also stepping up patrols in the area as there are concerns that throwing items at vehicles could result in someone sustaining serious injury,' the police spokesman added.
