A Starbucks drive through which will fuel passing commuters with caffeine and fuel the local economy with new jobs started construction on Tuesday.

Plans for the new drive-through outlet in the Asda car park on Belvedere Road were given a green light in March.

The development will create 15 full-time jobs and five part-time positions according to the applicants of the business permit, with "additional employment" created by its construction.

Due to the loss of nearly 50 parking spaces to Asda, the coffee chain had to meet a number of council conditions, including eight dedicated car spaces for customers (including two disabled spaces), and three bike stands.

It is expected to be open soon.
